Springs Speedway National Series: Second Place
Over the last 5 months, 8 races have made up what is known as the Springs Speedway National Series Championship. To most, winning this series is far more credible than winning any Speedway New Zealand Championship, as drivers have to race against the best drivers in New Zealand over 8 rounds, as opposed to a one-race championship where sometimes, its simply the luckiest driver on the day who crosses the line first.
Having spent the off-season racing in the US, i was still fresh and excited to go back to Western Springs. All of our sponsors were back onboard and we had a brand new Aggressor Chassis ready for whatever came our way.
The season had it's ups and downs of course, the International Series was the highlight of the season for me, even though engine problems and a crash put us out of all but one feature. Racing Dave Darland for the win infront of a full grandstand, breaking the lap record for the 3rd time in 2 years (see top of page) and watching MP scratch his head trying to keep up.
Me and Michael Pickens have been racing against each other for 3 years now and this past season was by far our most competitive season. It seemed that no matter what, we always ended up either on the infield, starting on the back while the others on the front or on the podium together.
In the end, I ended up second in the National Series, with Pickens taking the win. Congratulations to all the Champions for 2007 and 2008, and in particular Shaun Insley for his much deserved New Zealand Title.
Keep checking out the site for more information on what's happening with Mosen Racing and hopefully some news on my plans for the 2008 USAC season.
Thankyou to everybody involved with Mosen Racing and Aggressor Chassis and to all my sponsors Dodge, Dickies, Auto Trader, Elf and Chicane for all their support during the past season.
