First Practice at Western Springs 31st October 2009.
After months of preparation it was time to get the car dirty. These practices are ideal to shake the car car down and see which bolts were loose. It's also good for Brad to have a look at the new track surface and settle back into the seat.
The track was smooth and we could all see the banking in the turns. It held up really well given the hot day and knowing that the water truck had only watered the pole line. You can see how much dirt has gone into the track when you push it out the gate, now there is a 6" lip up onto the track. No one really knows what we are in for on Saturday Night, and there is lots of speculation. The key is we end up with a track that doesn't tear up and maintains at least two lines to race on. Time will tell.
As far as the car goes, we are really happy with it. This new engine is much louder than the Mopar was, so we will be working this week to get back under the noise restrictions. It definitely stands out on the track, and this will be even better when the lights are on as the signage is reflective.
Good to see lots of people there checking out the cars, with plenty of new drivers, cars, sponsors all we have to do now is put on the show come Saturday.

Sky Sport 1 : The Dirt

As the season rapidly approaches, Brad undertook his first television interview this week along with a number of other drivers including fellow international, Michael Pickens. The Dirt's opening show will feature Brad and Michael sharing an insight into their journeys around Western Springs Speedway. With Brad's Ben Ben sponsored car having been unveiled on Wednesday it was fitting that the car sat in the background of the interview. Brad spoke specifically about turn two of his local stomping ground from his driving perspective.
Check the interview out on Sky Sport 1's, The Dirt at 7pm this coming Tuesday, for the first of it's 22 shows scheduled for the summer season.
