know my way around the west side of Indianapolis, however me and my hot new wagon found ourselves completely lost out east looking for something familiar so I could get to the Keith Kunz Motorsports shop in Columbus. I finally got an idea of where I was when I looked at the gauges and realized that my car was overheating, badly. Luckily I pulled over right outside an auto repair shop so I limped the car over the road and straight onto a lift on the workshop. The car was going to take about four hours to repair so I convinced an employee to drop me back home, before remembering Dad had taken my keys to the house when he dropped the rental car off on his way home.
Three hours worth of Red Hot Chili Peppers songs on my ipod later, Keith Kunz Motorsports team mate Darren Hagen pulled up outside and I was finally on my way to Columbus. We had five midgets and three sprint cars to finish and load in the transporters. We found some metal scraps in the oil filter of my Dickies/Dodge #3 Bullet and after replacing all the oil in the motor and starting it up outside the workshop we still couldn’t find the problem, so I swapped my seat into a back up car and loaded up. Darren and I got to bed at 2.30am on Friday in the truck and when we woke up we were only about an hour away from the track.

The crew chief on Brads car was unable to make this trip as his wife had been taken to hospital to have a baby. When the Keith Kunz Team arrived they were late due to the slower trip than expected and things weren’t going to plan. Brad and one other missed the hot lap session.Brad had to run the individual qualifying on a cold engine.Half way around the first corner the engine blew a line. Brad then had to go into the B main on grid 19. He worked through to 6th and had to pull up, after two cars spun in front of him. This meant a restart back to the rear of field with 6 laps to go. He managed to get back into 7th place. This however meant missing the A main as only the top 6 went through. Keith was very happy with the way he drove. I guess that is racing and we all put that one down to bad luck. The next race is the end of July at Witchita and then straight into Belleville in the same week which he is looking forward to. Brad is heading of to Winchester, Indiana tomomorrow for the USAC sprint car race which is the fastest track they race on pavement.
