was all happening at one of the legendary tracks in the US. He tried running the cushion which had him post times similar to the other drivers with the Kunz Team. Brad was one of 4, Jay Drake, Darren Hagen and Bryan Clauson. He got 3 runs and seemed to get a handle on it, still apprehensive. We arrived Friday Night and the whole lot were there. Brad ran the 3rd group of 4 with hot laps. I couldn’t believe my eyes, his #3 was at the top of the pole posting the fastest lap of all the drivers. He missed qualifying through the heats so he ran the B Main and qualified 16th for the A Main. The track at this stage made Kihikihi look like a water hole. The crew asked me why he ran so close to the wall, I suggested they had better get used to it. Brad didn’t finish the Feature, had a slow motion roll-over and he was out. The good news was the car wasn’t bad, and he was going forward. Saturday Night was round 2 and Brad qualified through to the A Main from the heats. He posted the 4th quickest time in the hotlaps. The Feature started with Brad on grid 12. He took a while to get onto the fast line, slipping back to 23rd he had lots to do. He eventually finished 9th from the field of 26. It was great to have passed guys like Jerry Coons Jr, Tracy Hines and Davey Ray.
So, its home to NZ for me today, Brad stays here with Shane Davie and will race next Friday Night at Lake Ozark Speedway in Missouri.
