:::: End of Week One
:::: 27 May 2006

Having been to Anderson Wednesday Night, rained out of Kokomo Thursday, we headed off to the Indiana State Fairgrounds Friday Night for the Silver Crown Dirt Show. It was amazing to see 34 cars running the mile track. Hitting 150 mph down the

straights with no mufflers to be seen was unbelievable. The photos show Dave Darland coming off the turn a bit sideways. Check out the Water Truck, yes the big red thing about 18 metres long. We caught up with Willy Kaye briefly, he had a bunch of Kiwis up here watching the races this week.
Tonight we headed off to the Indianapolis Raceway Park which is a Pavement ½ Mile Track. The Keith Kunz team ran Darren Hagen, Bryan Clauson and Jay Drake. Caught up with Michael Pickens and Punga at the gate. Brad had an interview with TV1 Sports which will be shown on Shell Helix in about 2 Sundays from now. Most of the big shows up here are televised on the Outdoor Channel, one of the photos shows Scott Dixon being interviewed by them. We also caught up with Tim Clark and Brett Morris, it was good to be around so many Kiwis.
It was good to see Brad getting on so well with all the drivers and crew of the Kunz Team. He seemed to be quite comfortable with the ½ mile track and seeing these guys run it. I think I saw the race face starting to reappear which is a really good sign.
We are looking forward to Knoxville now, we should head off on Wednesday evening and drive through the night, about 10 hours at 80mph. Brad will have a full practice session on Thursday Night in preparation for both Friday and Saturday.
Tomorrow we head off to the Indy 500 which will finish off a pretty good week. The temperature here is up around 35C and the humidity is quite similar to home.
